Fashion Design Students visit the Big Apple

The cold and wind of South Dakota followed us to our recent design trip to New York City.  Our students purchased materials at many of the favorite fabric and trims suppliers in the garment district.

While in the big apple we were also welcomed with the same snow that was dumping on everyone back home. A nice brisk walk down to Central Park was a picturesque view of the snow covered  trees. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the city from the “Top of the Rock”.

We even fit in a visit to a live taping of the Martha Stewart show.

**Reminder** You too could be exploring your possibilites in Fashion Design. Check out our scholarships for the 2011/2012 term. Contact us for more information.

Friend in Local Sanford Cancer Ad

A friend of IDTSD as seen recently in Sanford Cancer print campaigns for her dedication to breast cancer research.  What makes Dr. Kristi Egland even more thoughtful, she made a point to wear her Dakota by Design’s eco friendly “re-cycle-linked” necklace created by design students at IDTSD for this picture.  Dr. Egland and her daughter Claire have been regular supporters of our events & style shows.

Interior Decor Study Tour

January was a great month to take a break to attend a major design market in a warmer climate.  Several of our students had the opportunity to experience cutting edge interior design furnishings at the World Market Center.

Coming soon -- our fashion design students head to New York mid-February.

Interior Decor Student Local Tours

Back home, the warmth of hand-crafted wood flooring at Maschino Wood Floor Showroom was a treat on a wicked cold day in South Dakota.  Thank you Jeff Maschino for his insight and tour of the floor options of many wood species.  In December, we toured the Showplace Wood Products plant and showroom.  Much thanks to Paul Sova for his hospitality and educational tour of their facilities in Harrisburg.
